Asmodeus~
Fallen Angel of Knowledge/ Sin: Lust
He possesses three heads: one of a middle-aged man, one of a bull and one of a ram. Plus he has a snake tail. He also possesses a collection of butterflies that are in fact stuffed women. Despite eveyrthing he has, he confesses to Setsuna that there is only one butterlfy he wishes to possess: Belial. He will trick Lucifer by creating a fake stuffed Alexiel as wedding present.
Astaroth~
Fallen Angel-Duke of Fear/Sin: Laziness
Astaroth is a being possessing two souls in one body. He was born from a divine experiment: God wanted to fuse his soul with his sister’s, in order to create the perfect being (another Adam Kadamon). But the experiment failed and both souls stayed apart. They share the same body, which sometimes creates conflicts of power.
Astaroth, the brother, is very violent and loves to see and taste blood. He lives in a labyrinth that he created.
When Lucifer rebelled against God, he offered Astaroth and Astarote the possibility to inhabit his body one after the other, by creating a black snake for Astaroth and a white snake of Astarote. Astaroth said that he despised his sister, but when she kills herself, a blood tear appears on his cheek.
Astarote is the twin sister of Astaroth. She is beautiful. By cruelty, her brother lost her in the labyrinthe to imprison her, so that she could never leave to see other people and bother him. Suffering from her loneliness, she dreams of love and seeks to have friends.
Her loneliness bring her to become crazy: she swallows the rares people who go into the labyrinth, so that they would not abandon her. She then pretends to be pregnant, but in fact it’s just her victim that is still alive in her belly.
She will almost swallow Kourai but Abbadon will kill her just in time. Instead of staying in a humanoid body, Astarote’s soul goes back into the snake, and loses her powers. She dies there. She choose the suicide in order to get free from her brother who tyrannised her.
Balbero~
Queen of the Devilish darkness (ex-angel)/Sin: Anger
She is known as Bale among the angels and used to be the servant of Lucifel and Michael. During the first war of angels, she is killed by Michael while protecting Lucifel whom she was in love with. Once fallen, Lucifel brings her back to life and gives her a new body and the power to imprison her adversaries into illusions. But she will be killed by Katou because her power of illusion does not work on him as he is already dead.
Mad Hatter~
Angel of Darkness (fallen angel)/Sin: Vanity
Ex-angel member of the Vertues, Belial is his name given by God and means “no value”. He willingly turned to Darkness. He possesses great powers and represents perversity. He is the messenger who’s task is to link the 7th underground, Shiol, to the cellar, Anagura. He seeks a wife for Lucifer and chose Kourai. He makes Noise help him in order to tear Kourai and Setsuna apart.
It is still hard to say if Mad Hatter is a man or a woman. He pretends to be a woman but he does not seem to care. He explains his point of view by using the example of “the city of immorality” of Sodome and Gomorrhe: homosexuality, incest, zoophiles… He is proud to have left a permanent mark on Asshiah, symbolising Darkness. Belial tooks some medicine when his angel’s body began to differentiate because he did not want to follow God’s path for her and become feminine. From the outside, she stays as a woman (without chest) wheras in the inside, she feels like a man. She says to be the favourite of Lucifer, who she deeply loves because he despised her, and he is the only one who call her from her real name.
Mammon~
Duke of Wealth (fallen angel)/Sin: Greed
He possesses two bird-heads.
Belzebub~
King of Fly (fallen angel of anger)/Sin: Gluttony
He is also called Belphegor in the French version. Kaori Yuki did not want to insert him in the story because he is too tough to draw.
Leviathan~
Baron of the Dragons of the Seas (fallen angel)/Sin: Envy
He is also called Sharith. He can be feminine. His body is covered by scales. He possesses an invincible steel weapon. He does not appear in Angel Sanctuary.
NB: The last three satans were not actually evoked in the manga "Angel Sanctuary". They are just presented so that the readers knows all the Satans.
